Bali Trip: Free Comedy

omg, we’ve been eating so good food here!  mostly from places i’ve been before, and new places too.  this particular restaurant was suggested by Oshima-san.  he told me this place was good and i know Oshima-san knows what good is.  so finally went to check it out.  and omg, it was better than good.  it was top of the line!   all the boys were telling me thank you for taking them there.  i told them they should be thanking Oshima-san.  this restaurant is a must go in Sanur!   thank you Oshima-san from the boys in Bali!  Kuta Beach is orange every single evening of the year.  if you want to see the most consistent orange color, this is the place to be. we went to get a smoothie at the most luxurious villa in Uluwatu.  pulled up to the restaurant with breathtaking views.  it cost $800USD/night and there are only 8 villas.  so pretty private and pretty luxury. i ordered the peanut butter green smoothie.  so refreshing!   as we were in the restaurant overlooking the infinity pool.  i see a familiar body.  a guy walks up the the pool, takes off his shirt, and jumps in the pool like it’s his own.   i take a closer look and it’s my brother???  what is he doing in the pool???  Tony, Kelia, and i were laughing so hard!!!  haha… he was enjoying the private pool for guests only.  then he gets out and the pool staff gives him a warm fluffy towel.  my brother wipes off, hands the guy back the towel, and comes up to the restaurant.   then no t-shirt and orders his smoothie.  so when people ask me where i got my craziness from, now you know it’s from my older brother.  haha…look at my brand new Porsche!  don’t touch it or don’t try to drive it.  this thing will get me to the top speeds of foiling that i’m trying to achieve.  better put my seatbelt on!

Foiling Bali: Tow-in Foil Surfing

ok, got some photos off my gopro.  it seems like our first foil day was years ago.  luckily photos never get too old… we pull up to the lineup and see a foil surfer in the water.   really???  the guy had his private boat towing him into big waves.  really???  so the friendly guy i am goes up to him and says “hey mate, how’s it going!”  we start talking as he was glad to see us.  you see, foilers love foilers.  anyway, the guy says “grab the rope and give it a go.”  i say “what? really?  ok!”  haha.   i grab the rope as it’s my first time towing in on the foil board.  half of me was stoked and the other half of me was holding on for my life.   the boat man tows me into the most amazing first wave.  i was screaming like a little kid on a Disneyland ride!  then Tony grabs the rope and gives it a go.  i’m foiling on the side filming the whole thing.  it was the coolest thing ever.  i can’t believe we’re foiling in Bali! in Bali, there is so much rubbish in the ocean.  the water is clean, but there is plastic everywhere.  but foiling and plastic don’t mix.  i kept on falling down when i ran over a plastic bag.  yuck…  but once i’m back up, life is good again.  to all my family and friends in Hawaii, us boys are living our dream lives right now.  my friend text me to say that the South Swell in Hawaii is going off.  i didn’t even reply because that’s the very last thing on my mind right now.   hanging out with Kelia, Seth, Tony, my Brother, and other friends here in Bali has been amazing.  this was one of my big dreams when i started traveling 30 year ago.  and finally those days have come!   luckily we’re here with Jeff Cantrel who is a photographer.  he was on our boat capturing the peaceful moments.  check out the next few photos.  here is Tony Moniz the legend foiler!   Peter King is the funniest guy you’ll ever meet.  get him on the foil and he’s even funnier.  how cool is this shot?   i paddled out without a top and paid the price.  jellyfish and sea lice stings all over my body.   scratching all night so couldn’t dream about foiling.  haha…this day was Tony’s as he got the best rides and best photos.  i want to thank the foil for bringing me so much closer to this true Hawaiian legend.  it’s like 35 years ago when we use to surf together every day on the North Shore.  now, we’re flying together in Indonesia!!!  oh and yeah, we’re actually here to support Seth.  forgot about him.  haha….

No Plastic Foot Massage

this years event at Keramas is plastic-free.  that means absolutely no plastic items at all.  they even took my bottled water away from me.  great idea to save this planet! and since terrorism is pretty sketchy in Indonesia, they are taking extra precaution.  there are police and security everywhere you look.   hanging out at the pool just talking story like a happy family day. babi guling for lunch is a must here! and looking for treasure is also a must here.   and now, foiling is a must too.  these are some of the happiest guys in the world.   Tony caught the ride of the day.  he rode it for 3 minutes all the way from the outside to the island.  super stoked! then us tired surfers went to get a foot massage.  just a few dollars can make your feet very happy.  a massage per day is mandatory every time i come to Bali.  why not?  there is a massage spa right next to our hotel.  lots of good feelings and good vibrations.  a bunch of happy tourists here!
