Lay Day: Bukit Peninsula

Seth got 3rd in the 1st round so he had to surf in the elimination round 2.  this is probably the most stressed out a competitor can be because losing here means last place.  and being ranked #7th in the world right now, that was not acceptable.  so Seth went out and performed.  he even got the best barrel of the contest so far.  good boy as we’re on to round 3! the waves were junk so the contest was called off.  a lay day means doing what ever we wanted to do.  so first, we went to the highest quality surfboard factory in Bali.   i go to see my foil board in production.  it’s crazy that it’s going to be finished tomorrow!   i ordered a full carbon wrap because in foiling, weight is everything.  the lighter it is, the faster it will go.  can’t wait.   look how beautiful it is.  i’m going to call it the “Black Beauty.”  thank you Mike Woo for the hard work and patience dealing with me.  haha.   then we went to check out Impossibles.  it was so beautiful!  then ended up at Uluwatu’s.  even more beautiful.  Kelia went for a surf, Jeff went to shoot, Mason went for a massage, and Tony and I went for a swim.  we hung out all afternoon long.  i think we’re officially semi-retired.  haha… ate at the restaurant called “Single Fin.”  my first smoothie of this trip…i ordered the breakfast burger.  26 years ago, you could only order a 30 cents noodle soup at Uluwatu’s.  now, you can order a $13 gourmet breakfast burger.  how times have changed…

Foil Surfing Bali

starting off each morning with a custom breakfast buffet.    i ordered 3 eggs sunny side up.  i was so sad when the lady broke one of my yolks.  haha.then driving to the beach watching the traffic.  and watching things you will never ever see in Hawaii.  this Father would go to jail and the government would take away his daughter for doing something like this back home.    remember that spot i found on Google Map last week?  well, we went to take a look at it.  chartered a boat and rolled the dice.  we paid $7/each and had this private boat to ourselves for 2 hours.  was pretty stoked to go surfing with my brother too.     but foiling is my passion right now.  it makes me happy and i do what ever makes me happy.  so foiling it is… Jeff, Mason, and Peter King.  we had a super fun Indonesian boat trip!  if it weren’t for foiling, Peter King and i wouldn’t be friends.  the foil brought us together and created a bond only foilers know… thank you Peter for the photo and amazing foil session.  so happy that the secret spot turned out to be foilers paradise.  i think we’ll be going here everyday from now.  so happy!then back to the pool and wait for the contest to continue.  life is really good here in Bali…
