Signature Foils

this has been automatic for me every morning.   hot chocolate from 7/11 and a blueberry muffin to go with it… Tony, Rainos, and i use to travel as professional surfers so we know how hard it is to lug around our equipment.   and we also know how fun it is to try new fresh boards.   here we are checking out Seth’s new models.   this is the level where professional surfing is now.  each and every board will work differently in some way.  it’s up to Seth to figure that out.   just want to take this time to thank Wade Tokoro for supporting Seth with top quality equipment throughout the years. .   Tony and i went driving around looking at waves.   there are so many point right spots here.  such an amazing place! Seth recommended this place for our lunch today.  it was healthy and very delicious.  great choice!   back to yesterdays foil session.  Tony and i met Matthew yesterday, then the next thing you know, we went foiling together.  Matthew is the man for Signature Foils.  super good quality foils that i finally get to test out!   and since we all foil, we connected right away… Matthew took us to Kirra to foil.  the waves were amazing!   good for surfing too but the three of us only had foiling on our minds.  Tony wants to foil the Molokai channel.  this is the start of his new dream.   Matthew is fully stoked and hooked on foiling.   it’s so cool because we know that feeling very well.  our conversations can go on for hours… and Matthew rips too!  so stoked to see him having the time of his life.  we were seriously like 3 little kids playing in a park!   when i left Hawaii, i didn’t think i’d be foiling at all.  but on the first day, it happened.  that’s so crazy how things turn out.  it’s a classic example of foilers supporting foilers.  the contest will start tomorrow at Dbah so it’s Seth Moniz’s biggest day of his life.  we were watching the guys practice this evening and the level is freaking high!   i think i’m more nervous than Seth.  haha.  see you guys tomorrow at the contest.  starting at 7am Australian time!

Snappers On the Rocks!

on this trip, Tony and I didn’t even plan to surf.  in fact, we didn’t even bring any surfboards.  but when we woke up on day 1, we couldn’t resit.  so headed to the surf shop to rent boards.   then we met a cool Italian guy that offered us a ride to the beach. this is what i love about traveling.  just meeting surfers from all over the world that just love to surf.  Tony hasn’t been here for over 30 years.  and it’s my first time to the Gold Coast so everything is pretty new to us.   we got our boards and headed to the contest site, Snapper Rocks.  nobody was out at the point so we jumped in and tested it out. the reason nobody was out is because the waves were breaking over the rocks.  so we literally surfed on Snapper Rocks!  look at Tony go over the reef on his rental board.  haha… as for the water, it’s warmer than Hawaii, clean, emerald, and so refreshing.  no need for a wetsuit. after our surf, we were walking back to our hotel when we stumbled upon a foil shop?  are you kidding me?  we were like 2 kids in there checking out everything.  then the owner says “let’s go foil in the afternoon!”  what do you think we said? of course!!!   Matthew, Tony, and i had the time of our lives.   we were like 3 kids foiling and screaming in the ocean.  we foiled Kirra and the waves were perfect.   we foiled until it was dark.  and it was Tony’s first time in decades that he surfed 2x in one day.  haha… then met up with Rainos for dinner.  we have the most amazing conversations.  you would laugh so much if you heard what we talk about.before i came to Australia, lots of people told me the food isn’t the greatest.  well, they were wrong.  the food is great here!

Australian Gold Coast Day 1

i walked into the liquor store and asked a local customer “hey mate, what’s the best Australian beer?”  he pointed out this one and omg, it was delicious!  everywhere you go in Australia, you can find kombucha.  so happy because this is a must in my daily routine.   i just love my hotel room!  i feel so happy here… there is a gym on the 1st floor and was thinking about working out.  but after 2 rounds totaling 5 hours in the ocean today, i said forget it.   cheap, convenient, and very comfortable.  welcome to my hotel! got up early and headed to the beach.  Seth getting ready for a warm up session.   finned up and ready to go! omg, the waves were super good!  Seth told me this is the best day in weeks!  sunny, warm, and offshore.  every surfers dream!   the whole surfing world will be watching the contest this week.  and from what i heard, it looks like it will be starting on the first day, which is April 3.   Seth and Tony Moniz.  surfer and bodyguard.   so cool riding in the car with Tony, Coach Rainos, and Seth.  boys just being boys…Rainos is always looking after Seth in and out of the water.  that’s a great coach.  i’m starting to get excited!  can’t wait till tomorrow!
