a 2 hour boat ride in the wild lighting, thunder, and rain in panama. all you could do was laugh at it..
then when you can’t take anymore, go in the front of the boat and gather around the toilet. haha.
went on a wild party boat trip to the maldives about 12 years ago. the staff on the boat tried to go jacksan shot for shot with us. one by one they went down. and one by one they were attacked by the magic marker. haha.
i don’t know what kind of culture this is, but seeing a real cows head kind of freaked me out. i just had to take a photo.
ok, for your information, it costs about $4,000 to give birth to a healthy baby in hawaii without insurance. i know many japanese girls coming to hawaii to give birth without insurance. why? because if you do, your baby is automatic an american citizen and gets a passport for both the united states, and japan. we call it dual citizenship. remember, that’s $4,000 considering everything goes right.
now meet the million dollar baby. her pregnant mom from canada came to hawaii for vacation, mom’s water bag broke, and the next thing you know, she was admitted to queen’s hospital. mom gave birth to her premature baby, which had complications. ended up being hospitalized for 2 weeks in intensive care. she goes back to canada and gets her bill a few months later. how much? one million dollars! $950,000 to be exact. and yes, mom MUST pay for it. a lot of people in the world don’t understand how much medical expenses are in america. it is freaking crazy! 25% of americans don’t have insurance because they can’t afford it. one accident or mistake, and you are financially ruined for the rest of your life. welcome to america. is it worth a passport? better think again.

Surf Inn to Highway Inn
the waves were so fun this afternoon! nobody out and just perfect for longboarding. hot sun, cool trades, and just a perfect afternoon at the beach.
today was Saori-san’s only 2nd time surfing in her life. she did fantastic! perfect 8 rides averaging over 30 second long and never falling off. had a great time surfing, checking out nature, and eating good food with you Saori-san!
it was kind of weird today. came across a crazy thought as i was looking over half of honolulu. if a tsunami was ever to hit hawaii like the last one that hit japan, this will all be gone. the water would come all the way back to manoa valley and the surrounding areas. it would be chaos. being situated in the middle of the huge pacific ocean, we are prone to tsunami’s. thank goodness we have buoys around our island to give us warning. but then again, it could happen in a matter of minutes. just a scary thought i wanted to share. so if you hear the sirens sounding, run toward the mountains, not the valleys.
went to Highway Inn with Saori-san and ate an incredible meal! this is the dinner special. pork chops with sweet potato coroque. the dish before this was poke but i was so hungry that i forgot to take a photo. sorry.
after surf meal? omg! the best! visit Highway Inn in Kakaako!
then i came home and was feeling lonely so i went to grab my nephew. we went for a walk in the dark to smell the sweet flowers around my house, then played together until i got tired, then took him home. in other words, i just borrowed a baby. haha.
