i just had to take a photo of my new Penn reel. i can’t believe these things cost around $1,000 with the line. luckily i didn’t have to pay for it but it’s still something i don’t want to lose. and now you know why i was so pissed the other day. haha.
and it’s here! the long awaited video of Wendell Ko spearing this monster marlin. 508lbs. and all caught on HD video by Kyle Nakamoto. april 1st it airs on OCN16 and i just hope you don’t miss this. timing is important in spearfishing and filming and Wendell’s timing and Kyle’s timing couldn’t have been any better. once this Hawaii Skin Diver TV airs, it will make world headline news. congratulations to two cool people! awesome job!
the waves on the south shore have been super fun. just people enjoying the uncrowded surf everywhere.
look at the gold coast in the back ground. the most sought out beach front property in the world.
days like this are better to ride a longboard for long rides. this day had 3 surfers in the water when i passed by. if this were japan, there would be 300 surfers out for sure.
north shore still good, south shore swell coming this week. still full flights to japan and i’m wondering how i’m going to get there. like i said, if there’s a will, there’s a way. but as long as i’m in the airplane, i’m all relaxed and good to go. and if i have to paddle there, i will. see you soon!

i was driving out to hawaii kai yesterday evening and seen the coolest rainbow forming. blue sky rainbow!
no, this is not a surf shop in hawaii. no surf shop has this many surfboards. this is the Moniz Family quiver. i stopped by for a birthday party and had a great time catching up with the kids. they have big plans this summer but first, they are heading to Ecuador for the world junior champions. will there be yet another Moniz World Champion? we shall wait and see. i wonder what board they will take?
and yes, another hawaiian style bbq dinner. i ate 3 full plates and feel like a kalua pig now! then dessert and snacks after. i must have gained 10lbs. yesterday but i slept a very happy man.
Happy Birthday Baby Noah! my grand nephew is 6 years old and the cutest kid in hawaii.
also wanted to congratulate my surfer friend Lena Ching for the Chairman’s Gold Circle Award Winner! been on a boat trip to Timor with her enjoying awesome surf, sashimi, and laughs. just one of a few top realtor friends i have here in hawaii making my life and many others very easy. she was recognized as the Top 2% of 47,000 prudential agents nationwide. what an amazing accomplishment, and what an amazing surfer girl!
