Wakayama Family who Surfs
i had a great time with the Tsujimoto-san family. super cool family from wakayama that loves to surf. and now loves hawaii.
if it’s a kids first time surfing, i usually take them with me tandem. i want them to enjoy the ride and be able to grab them if they fall off. the first experience is always the most important and if it goes well, they will get hooked on surfing forever. just like how i did.
Sayaka-chan is 12 so she surfed on her own. such a loving girl with loving parents.
and Mommy surfing for her first time too. Kumiko-san is a good bodyboarder so surfing came easy.
this is my view. just standing in back of Ai-chan laughing at this little cute girl.
long rides and long memories.
then i took the 2 girls on the same board and caught a wave. it was very challenging and very fun. something i will never forget.
this is a cool photo of this cool family. i meet the nicest people every single day and i’m very fortunate to help them enjoy their hawaiian vacation. Keep on Surfing Tsujimoto-san Family!
what did i do today? i left my house at 10am, drove to downtown to buy things for Mayuki, drove to kailua to borrow a friends trailer, drove to the ala wai to pull her out of the water, drove to the dry dock to do maintenance and installation. we were working all day straight in the hot sun and when i was driving home at 5pm, i almost fainted. i thought to myself why i felt so weak? omg, i didn’t eat lunch!!! things were so busy that i didn’t even have time to think about or eat lunch. i came home, ate like a pig, took a 2 hour nap, and now i’m feeling super fresh at 9pm. gotta surf tomorrow and do another thousands of things. can’t wait!
thank you Scott for letting me borrow your trailer. you saved me $600. thank you Kyle for helping me pull Mayuki out of the water and back her into that small space. you saved me an accident. thank you Mason for hooking up the electronics. you saved me trouble. and thank you Mike for doing the maintenance on the motors. you saved me stress. now the bottom paint will go on and Mayuki will be back in the water in 4 days. 8 more busy days in hawaii and i’m looking forward to jumping on an airplane heading for japan! my crazy life continues…
Hawaii Tiger Shark Tracking
my friend showed me this amazing government website that tracks tiger sharks. they have a program that puts satellite tags on several tiger sharks here in hawaii and watches where they go. i think they tagged 14 or so big tiger sharks and now i can track them. so cool!
most of the sharks have been hanging around molokai and the maui area. some come over to oahu to places like kaimana beach, waikiki, ala moana bowls, and lanikai. haha. remember that this is only several tiger sharks out of thousands. but you get the rough idea where they hang out and talk story.
here are the lucky sharks that are being followed. i think this is very valuable information as scientists are trying to learn more about these amazing sharks.
this is the timeline of just one of the 13′ tiger sharks in the past month. she’s been hanging around molokai and maui. and was just tracked yesterday way off oahu.
i was thinking of putting a satellite tag on me someday so you can all follow me too. haha. just joking.
swim safe!
