today was another awesome day. Angela Vernon has been telling me about her dream for so many years. she wanted to bring Ocean’s Love to Hawaii and it finally happened! i couldn’t believe how happy the kids were to surf, and i couldn’t believe how many volunteers came out to help. it was such an awesome day and i’m super happy to have been part of something so special. i have to download more photos and will talk more about this awesome day tomorrow.
the sunset was amazing today. it was so good to finally see the sun peaking out of the clouds!
then some poke, corona, and friends. what an awesome evening.
my brother and his friend Rod have been working on Mayuki. the weather finally cooperated so they got a lot of things done today. they worked really hard, then it was hawaiian style pupu time. Hayato Maki and Hideyoshi Tanaka came by to join us for some beers. it was pretty cool hanging out with friends and talking story from afternoon to night.
and of course we had to take a test ride to see if everything was working ok. just a few more days and everything will be perfect! i can’t wait!
keep warm because today was pretty cold. the sun should be shining tomorrow and i hope to warm up my body. good night.

Honolulu Cheap Eats
just got the new Honolulu Magazine and was flipping through it. everybody likes cheap eats right?
then this photo of the old Waialae Drive-in popped up. gosh, i remember watching the movie “Grease” there. haha. i was in 10th grade high school when my friend Derek use to pick us up in his dad’s dodge dart. it had a huge trunk so about 5 of us use to hide in the trunk so we didn’t have to pay to get into the drive-in. once in, we all get out and sit on the ground and watch the movie. then when somebody wanted to use the bathroom, we would all go together because it was haunted. yeah, real ghosts use to live in the bathroom and many people seen them. maybe because there was a graveyard next to it? anyway, Kahala Zippy’s is now in the place but i will never forget the awesome memories that happened at that drive-in. it was so fun to be a kid in hawaii!
then the first mcdonald’s ever in hawaii was at aina hina. my grandma use to work there cooking hamburgers. i remember going to the side window to say hello as my grandma use to smile and enjoy her job. gosh, i think she worked there for 30 years or so and even retired from there. now it’s not there and got replace with a big new first hawaiian bank building. sad.
