i surfed bowls this morning. when i was paddling in, i saw a family standing on the rocks trying to look for something in the water. i ask “what you guys looking for?” the father said “my son dropped his iphone in the water and lost it.” what? he said they where paddling canoe in the early morning and a wave flipped them over. his brand new iphone was in his pocket and it fell out. OMG! the kid looked super bummed. after a while, they finally gave up. i was working so i couldn’t help them at that time so after, i went to their car and asked for his phone number. he said “why?” i told him that i would look for it if i had time later. but i also asked “does you have insurance on the phone?” he said “yeah.” if he didn’t have insurance, the phone is useless and i wouldn’t waste my time looking for it. but with apple care insurance, you get a free new phone no matter what. BUT, you must have the broken phone. i had planned a late afternoon dive with Dr. Brent earlier in the day. after we were done, i asked him to help me look for the kids iphone. we drove my boat right to the inside of bowls, which was pretty crazy! if a canoe can flip, so can my boat. haha. but i like high risk action. i bet everybody must have been freaking out to see my boat there. anyway… we jump in with our masks, circle around, and guess what????
Brent found it!!! we were so happy! so i call the guy up and going to meet him tomorrow. after today, i thought about making a treasure hunting company. loosing something in the ocean is pretty much the end. but in the past month, i found a gopro, fins, and even a tahitian pearl. and today, Brent found an iphone and oakley sunglasses. if you lost something, please let me know because we just might find it. goodnight.

Fresh Sashimi!
nothing beats an evening boat session. the waves, the glassy conditions, the golden light, and the great smiles. i wish i could surf till sunset for the rest of my life.
usually when my friends give me sashimi, they give me the whole fish, tell me cut it up, and give them the back fillets of sashimi. haha. but when Kyle gives me sashimi, it’s perfectly cut, wrapped, and packaged. all i have to do is come home, slice a few pieces, dip it into shoyu/wasabi, and let it melt in my mouth. that’s exactly what i did last night.
fresh mahimahi and opelu kala. so good! thanks Kyle!
i took Takeda-san and Michiko-san to surf Haleiwa on a beautiful morning. beautiful rides and beautiful waves!
Takeda-san and Michiko-san, you both surfed so good!!! keep on surfing and see you again in hawaii!
