New Hope For Cambodian Children – LOVE Fund

my younger brother Davis Fukunaga was always the smart one out of us boys. the only one who actually went to class in high school, and the only one who stayed out of trouble. my older brother and i were totally opposite. he attended U.H and went on an exchange program to Konan University in Kobe. after he graduated, he worked as a salaryman for Canon in tokyo for 10 years learning how to speak fluently, read, and write the language. then moved to hong kong and worked as a model, then back to san francisco to work as an elite pharmaceutical representative. a very hard worker, a very smart guy, and very caring too. he was always the baby of the family but was making 10x more money than any of us. last year when i went to visit him in san francisco, he was telling me his dream of leaving his job and exploring the world. a month after that, his dream came true. he’s been in and out of south america, through the middle east, and traveling so freely. i was just thinking of him yesterday and wondering where he was, THEN, i get a rare email from him last night. and in that email, he explained where he was, and what he was doing. here it is:
NHCC
Greetings from Cambodia. I am currently doing some volunteer work at an orphanage for children living with HIV/AIDS in a small village about 1 1/2 hours out of the city Phnom Penh. I have been living and working in the village for the past week and a half and will still be here for a bit longer. This is a life changing experience for me as I always was able to help organizations financially but was never able to donate my time to a cause I believe in . There are 248 children between the ages of 2 – 18 who are taking their ARV medications twice a day.
do you know how proud i am of my little brother??? this kid just stepped up and gave from his heart. it brought tears to my eyes knowing that he’s on the other side of the world helping kids that are living with AIDS. he’s on the front line and knows the insides and out. i know for a fact that my brother doesn’t like to ask people for money, but if it’s for a great cause he believes in, he will reach out. like he said, 100% of donations will go straight to the kids. that’s awesome! i’ve never said anything in my life to praise my brother, but now is the time, “Hey Davis, I’m freaking so proud of you! Good job!”
i would never even think of sending a donation so some organization i haven’t heard of because i know that the money doesn’t go to where it should. for this one, i trust my brother 110% and am going to donate money that i know will go directly to the children in need.
