My Super Grandpa Fukunaga

yesterday morning i was driving around diamond head and was thinking about my grandpa. i called him and no answer. so i took a chance and drove by zippy’s because he goes there often to drink coffee with my aunty. guess what? he was there!!!! i was so happy to see him.
my grandpa fukunaga is a second generation japanese/american. his parents are from Yamaguchi-ken and immigrated here by boat over a hundred of years ago. i love hearing all the stories! my grandpa is 94 years old!! can you believe it? he is so genki! lives alone, takes a walk 2x a day, drinks beer, cooks for himself, and even drives a car. if the family blood stays strong, i’ll be living for a pretty long time too.

i asked my aunty to take a photo of grandpa and me. he didn’t smile at first so i said “come on grandpa, you gotta smile.” my grandpa is very camera shy. so cute!!!!

here is the smile i always see. when i get 94 years old, i hope i look as handsome as my grandpa. hey grandpa, keep strong and keep smiling. i love you!

then he gets in his car, and drives home. you can call him super grandpa!
