Newborn Surfer

tandem surfing is the best for kids. i still won’t forget my first wave tandem on a longboard at haleiwa when i was 6 or 7 years old. it was the scariest, but most exciting thing that ever happened to me at that age. and it was that first wave that started my surfing career. so when i take kids on my longboard, i have to focus even more because one mistake could turn a good experience to a bad one. if a young kid has a first bad experience, he will probably never surf again. but if you give a kid a great one, he will love the ocean for life. i think i was more nervous than Kanta but after we caught our first wave, i knew just from his smile that he was hooked on his new life. welcome to surfing and see you in the water!
Kanta sent me an email after we surfed. Check it out.
Dear Kirby,
When we were surfing I thought I was dreaming but my best part is go all the way
shore.I have a question. Why do you like surfing? How many wave did you take?
I wish that I can surf with you again.Thank you so much!!
Kanta
Hello Kanta,
How are you today?
Thank you so much for your email.
I was happy to surf with you again this past weekend.
Your surfing is getting much better and I’m glad you enjoy it.
Next time, we will catch bigger and longer waves!
You’re a very cute kid and I hope you can enjoy surfing all the time in Hawaii.
You asked me “why do i like surfing?”
I like surfing because it’s fun, healthy, relaxing, and we can meet so many good friends in the ocean.
And it’s because of surfing I could met you too. Isn’t that amazing?
Take care, study hard in school, listen to your Mommy, and keep on smiling!
I’m always here for you.
Kirby
