2008 ASP Tour Qualifiers…..

good rainy windy cold thursday evening. gosh, feels like we had 10 typhoons this past 2 months here in hawaii. i can’t remember the last day we had sunny skies with no winds and perfect waves. do you remember? september…[:????$B”L(B?:][:????$B”L(B?:][:????$B”L(B?:] good one yeah? haha… just trying to keep my spirits high before i start going crazy….

diamond head was pretty fun today. not too many surfers out and a really good angle for lighthouse. if you timed it right, you scored. if you didn’t, try again tomorrow…
check out this email holli sent me. i totally agree with it….
Life is too short to wake up with regrets.
So love the people who treat you right.
Forget about the one’s who don’t.
BELIEVE everything happens for a reason.
If you get a second chance, grab it with both hands.
If it changes your life, let it.
Nobody said life would be easy,
they just promised it would be worth it!!

**and last….

check out this photo of the week from the philippines. pretty nuts….

Bombing, poisoning or killing fish by electricity….

good morning. 7am on another cloudy windy small surf day. beginning to sound like a broken record. waves on the north shore and south shore are smaller than yesterday. nobody out at pipe, one guy out at lani’s, nobody out at rockpiles, nobody out at the park, and one guy out at bowls. that’s says it all. shitty surf around the island. it’s raining outside now, the trades are blowing at 30mph, and it’s going to be the same for the next few days. so all you surfers, try to have a nice day….

there is a huge problem in countries like the philippines and indonesia. killing fish by explosives, noxious or poisonous substance, and or electricity is common. more common in the philippines but seen at other places in the world. coming from hawaii, i can’t even comprehend what the hell people are thinking. what about the future??? diving in the philippines is pretty depressing. no fish, polluted water, or blown up coral reefs. i’ve seen it all with my own eyes. it’s pretty sad because how are the next generations going to live? the government is getting strict but there still is a lot more to be done. i’ve been on the boat in secluded islands of the philippines and heard and seen the local fisherman blowing up the reefs and collect all the dead fish. so when i seen this sign in one of the local fish markets, it made me happy. happy that finally some of the government and people are figuring out that this type of fishing is wrong…. totally wrong….

try to walk into a fish market in japan, hawaii, tahiti, maldives, or australia. it’s loaded with fish of all sorts. then try to walk into a fish market in the philippines, this is what you’ll see. all small fish. i’ve seen uhu’s the size of peanuts in some fish markets. sad…. i hope things change very soon or there will be nothing left….
*congrats to naohisa ogawa for winning the japan mens division and Kiron Jaour fodr winning the junior mens division yesterday at the haleiwa international open….

Merry Christmas Again….
