good evening. spent the whole day, or should i say, the past 2 weeks working on my taxes. it’s an annual event that every american must do. yeah, it sucks but if you don’t do it, you’ll end up in jail. so after sorting out the receipts that i can’t read because it’s in japanese, i finally have space to walk in my house. a few more days, then i’m done…. i had to get wet so i went to jump in at bowls this morning. paddled out, caught 4 waves, and paddled back in. my hair didn’t even get wet. and it was freaking cold. seen jeannie chesser and toru-san on the way out and they told me it was freezing. they weren’t lying. it was cold…. came back home and pressed buttons in my calculator all day. after i’m done with my taxes, i’m going to have a big party. an after tax party…. well, got to get back to the calculator. see ya….
oh, check out the deck we built yesterday. we used all old wood sitting around the house so it didn’t cost us anything. just a few arguments is about it. but that’s normal around here….
**and check out this clip of big game fishing in the mentawai islands, north sumatra, indonesia. this was a TSSC/DOVE surf trip back in 2003. all of us were good friends and gosh, we had a good time. perfect HT’s with nobody around. and to top it off, our big fish… this was my second time to the mentawai’s so i took everything. my surfing stuff, diving stuff, and fishing stuff. my bags must have weighted a ton. i bought this penn 9.0 reel and pole all the way from hawaii. and the lure i used was made by my friend derek kiyota. i fished the whole trip and didn’t get one bite. then it was on the way back to padang on our last day when it hit. i was down on my bed reading my maxim magazine when i heard the boat come to a stop and everybody yelling outside. i ran up and seen my line going out. game on…. check out the action and all the excitement from all the boys. matsuo took the video and is talking. and everybody else is yelling their heads off, including me. something i will NEVER FORGET…..

Hardcore Flying in the Philippines….
good morning. happy saint patrick’s day!! better wear your green. if you don’t wear green today, your going to get pinched. well, that’s how it was when i was a kid. is that true? it’s 7:15am and the waves on the north shore looks pretty fun. pipe’s 3-4′ and cleaner than yesterday. 15 guys out and i bet you can paddle out there and get a lot of waves because nobody’s here. town has some waist high waves. one guy out at rockpiles and 13 or so at bowls. stay away from kewalos’ because every single amateur surfer is there for the NSSA HAWAII RVCA REGIONAL contest. a little morning sickness today but should be cleaning up. it’s just another typical spring day here in hawaii. i’m going to ride my green surfboard today. some saint patrick spirit. have a good one…
spent one hour last night making a short clip on my last philippines trip. should be up on video tonight or tomorrow. stay tuned…

Swimming with Dolphins off Waikiki….
good evening. stayed home and did some carpenter work outside. my brother and i, with the supervision of my mom built an extension of our deck between our houses. if you ever seen us work together, you would laugh. we all have different opinions in what we think is the right way. half the time we just argue. but that’s how our family gets along. and that’s how the job gets done the right way. well, maybe not the right way, but our way. so the extension is done and everything’s looking good. a job like this would have probably cost about a lot of money if we hired professionals but we did it in 2 hours. it felt pretty good pounding nails. it’s like a stress reliever. not that i have any stress or anything. haha. i spent some time downloading old surf footage of me when i was younger. gosh, those were the good old days…
this is a clip of me surfing rocky point in 1993. the good old days…..
and this was in 1995 at pretty big backdoor. one of my best barrels of my life….
i just figured out how to use youtube. now i can finally post some video clips of all the years i’ve been shooting with my video camera. got some classic stuff from 16 years traveling around this world. i just need some time to get to all the footage. more like, i need a lot of time. i just put this dolphin clip off my olympus dig. camera that i lost. it was a few months ago when i was going out diving and past by this pod of dolphins. i’ve swam with wild dolphins a lot but this time, i had my camera. i dove down to about 15′ and shot this while the dolphins were swimming by. if you listen good, you can hear me making grunting noises. i tried to bring the dolphins in but they didn’t want to come this day. sometimes i make noises, they turn and come right up to me. anyway, it was cool swimming with the dolphins. actually it’s always cool…. check out my first youtube post…..
and last, check out japanese pro surfer tomohisa yoshikawa’s interview on GO-NAMINORI. CLICK HERE FOR INTERVIEW..
