Free Diving Spearfishing North Shore, Oahu…

good evening. gosh, today was hotter than hot. i went to check the waves but it was too dam hot to surf. it felt like 100 degrees outside. the waves looked pretty good but my bed with a/c was calling me. came home, drank a lot of water, turned on the a/c, and dreamt surfing. had an awesome session….

i went to shoot bowls yesterday and seen sandy out. sandy is a pro bodyboarder from japan. she’s been surfing bowls the past month because she is staying right in front. she took off on a medium wave, came towards me, then did this nuts spin. i closed my eyes and pressed my trigger. came home and when i seen this photo, i was super stoked. super stoked because this is probably the best bodyboard photo i’ve ever taken. perfect spin and perfect smile. makes me want to bodyboard…. thanks sandy…. by the way, i sent this photo in to guy hagi and he ran it on the evening news last night. score…
**ok, split fridays dive into 2 parts. one free diving, and one for the dolphins. this is the free diving one first. mike woo and i went out early to the north shore on friday. the water was really dirty and it got super windy making the diving conditions not that great. we were lucky to pick up some fish, enough for dinner. how did we do it? jump in, spear some fish, then get out before the sharks come. yeah, you don’t want to be diving the north shore in dirty water with bloody fish hanging next to you. if you stay in one place too long, the sharks will come. and with all the great white shark sightings, i don’t want to take a chance. i already feel like their watching us…. so we speared some fish, and moved on. then when we had enough fish in the cooler, we went home. half a day of diving was enough. wait to you see the dolphin footage coming soon.. it’s pretty awesome… your going to wish you were there…. enjoy…

Billabong Pro at Jeffery's Bay with Kelly Slater….

good sunday morning. waves, waves, and waves. yeah, chest high, no wind, sunny skies, and perfect conditions. 20 guys out at bowls and a lot more at the park. going to be a beautiful day but expect winds to blow on shore around 10am. so get on it early… have a nice day….

i was in the japan sea last year sitting at the beach watching the waves. then this cutest kid walked back and kept on looking at me. i guess i looked like a monkey or something. anyway, i snapped this photo. cute yeah….

ok, kelly slater is in the billabong pro at j-bay. after the last contest, he said that he will decide whether or not he will pursue another world champion title this year. here’s what i think. kelly is a competitive freak. there is no way he will quit the tour leading the ratings. no way. even if he was 2nd or 3rd, he won’t. it’s just a proven fact because he retired before. how can such a competitive person sit back at home while other people are winning the contests he could win so easily. surfing needs kelly slater. and kelly slater needs surfing… did that make sense? i don’t even know what i’m saying. but the bottom line is. kelly ain’t going nowhere until he can’t win anymore. and that’s not going to happen anytime soon….

and last. after leaving bowls yesterday, i drove right through the HAWAII PRIDE PARADE. or in other words “THE GAY PARADE”. they have it every year in waikiki and more and more people are showing up. i might walk it next year…. haha….

A Day at Ala Moana Bowls…

good evening. headed down to bowls this morning. the waves were pretty good. 3′ solid and good conditions. check out some of the action from today….

this is trisha. no, she’s not a bodyboarder, she’s a surfer. stepped on “wana” two weeks ago and it’s still stuck in her foot. she can’t stand up but she had to get into the water. whatever works right?

this is alvin. alvin is one of the boys out at bowls. super cool guy, until you drop in…

lane davey always gets the good waves. she surfs pipeline in the winter and bowls in the summer. the two best spots on the island…. good choices lane….

this is sandy from izu. she’s a pro bodyboarder and rips. lucky sandy stayed in hawaii for one month and had the best pad on the island. a yacht right in front of bowls. that’s why i said “lucky sandy”….

and last, the water was dirty today but i wanted to test out my camera. i got another housing and lens so i was having trouble focusing. i tried something different today and i think it worked. i’m stoked on this 3 inch wave underwater shot…
**anyway, more south swells on the way, another north swell on tuesday, got a new minami short board so i can’t wait. got some fish, got some waves, and got some happy times. and got some videos coming up, surfing with jun jo, diving north shore, and swimming with the dolphins. so busy and not enough time. wish there were 48 hours in a day. anyway, i ain’t complaining. i’m loving life….
