Sugar Rush: Yerba Mate Mint

at a chicken pesto crepe at Crepe No Ka Oi. it was delicious!

healthy and very filling. happy food!

i was walking outside and heard somebody yell “Uncle!” looked up, at it was Seth! he was telling us that this drink called Yerba Mate is the best! he said it’s healthy and an energy boost so he drinks 2 cans a day.

so i walk into Whole Foods and check what’s in the can. can you believe there is 28 grams of sugar in one drink!!!

that’s 7 packets of sugar in each drink. and Seth drinks 2 per/day? 14 packs of sugar in one day? maybe that’s why he feels so energized. sugar rush!!! haha.

so i get the bottled mint one. there are only 20 grams of sugar in here so only 5 packs of sugar.

since all the boys drink this every single day, Asayama-san and i decided to feel the buzz.

we sit down outside with all the young boys, drink our sugar rush tea, and have a wonderful talk.

then with all that sugar in their blood, the boys went surfing. haha.

Asayama-san and i decided to take a walk because we had some energy too. but all that sugar made us want to surf too!

so we surfed and surfed like little kids! look how beautiful it was!!! then after our sugar rush went away, we went to eat shave ice for more sugar!!! haha.

if you know this girl, tell her i have her photos. and also tell her to “look forward!!!” haha.

was a pleasure to meet this cool surfer Yoshida-san. if you wear a Dove wetsuit, you are indeed a friend. hopefully i’ll be able to go eat at his yakiniku shop in Yotsuya someday!

June 12, 2018 Hawaii Surf Report

Another beautiful day…

Good morning 5:15am.
Ala Moana small at waist/chest high. Clean and nice.
Diamond Head chest/shoulder high and bumpy.
Trade winds at 15mph.
Sunny and very warm.
Going surfing and surfing.
Have a wonderful day!

Ala Moana to Kahala to Waikiki

a treat to see World Champion Carissa Moore this morning at Ala Moana Bowls. such a sweet girl that everybody loves, including Asayama-san.

waves came down, but our hunger for surfing didn’t. we surfed for 3 hours this morning!

i always tell Asayama-san to just go in when he’s tired. but he kept on paddling back out after every ride. i think i was more tired than him today. haha.

it’s been a while since we surfed for that long. super tired, super burnt, and super hungry.

went to Kahala Mall and had lunch with the young Hawaiian surfer boys.

then went for a nice people watching tour at Waikiki.

the water looked so perfect and inviting!

since Asayama-san never surfed Waikiki before, today was the day! why not right?

we had this little sandbar to ourselves. it was the most beautiful Summer day in Hawaii!

came in, ate shave ice, and felt young all day long. one of the most perfect days in paradise…
