wow, i’ve been gone for 1.5 months of this summer and so far, i have to say that the summer surf in hawaii has been the best in years. i don’t remember so many big swells in a short period of time. yesterday i seen some solid 6′ sets at bowls in the mid-morning. we surfed big rights in the afternoon and it was really fun. takahashi-san, satoko-san, alyssa, naoka, and I paddled out at 2 and it was pretty empty. i know that these swells won’t last forever but i just checked the forecast and there are 2 more swells on the way. could this be the endless summer? i hope so.
as for my plans. yes, mission 4 starts july 21st for me. i’ll be flying out of here soon and i’m hoping to see some improvements in tohoku. we are helping out with a big event in sendai on july 23rd and will be going back deep into the worst hit areas right after that. if anybody has any contacts or information on people still needing help, please let me know. we are focusing on the kids this time but we’re there to help anybody that need it. i have mixed emotions thinking of what i’ll see. i’m sure i’ll be happy on seeing things getting better, but i know that some places will look the same. and with the radiation still leaking in the air and water, there seems to be no end in the near future. i hope nobody forgets about japan, i hope people still go there to volunteer, and i hope to show people that the road to recovery is far from over. please keep on supporting japan!
and for all of you who come up to me and say “thank you for helping japan,” please don’t thank me, thank the thousands of people and volunteers that made “WE ARE ONE.” i’m so happy to be a part of this projects and like i said after mission 1, “we are in this for the long run.” thank you again!
by the way, we are still taking donations for our upcoming missions.
