surfed the empty lineup today with Ikeda-san. the sun out, very warm, and super fun. he asked me if it’s usually like this. i said “no.” haha.

came home this evening and filleted one of the uhu’s i speared. going to dip it in egg, panko, deep fry it, and eat it with tartar sauce. can’t wait!
and want to thank Joshua for dropping off some fresh poi from Molokai. i ate it all!
free diving with my nephew is like a dream for me. and watching him spear his first pelagic fish was another. it’s hard to pull in a big fish like that. i kind of wanted to help Joshua, but i didn’t. i had faith in him that he could hunt all alone. and he just did that. so happy!
only take what you need. and that’s exactly what we did. yeah, we could have filled up this cooler with fish but that’s not what it’s all about. if you want to live off the land, you must respect the land. simple.
and good thing we went back to the boat because Mr. Shark came for a visit. and if this shark ate Joshua’s fish, he would be traumatized for life…
