ok, i finally downloaded the last photos off my camera to my computer. this was the last day of our wonderful trip to the mentawai’s. a lot of happy faces and great times. we have 3 big media articles coming up from this trip so our crew isn’t posting too many photos that will uncover the trip. Surf Trip Journal, Flipper Bodyboarding, and Go-Naminori web magazine are going to be filled with amazing photos of big waves and happy faces. i’ll stop right there.
i haven’t had the time to thank everybody that was involved in this trip and to do it in one blog, it’s impossible. so here’s what i’ll do. i’ll introduce all the other 13 members one by one and thank them at the same time. first, let’s start off with the girl on the front row far to the right. her name is akiko sato or acco-chan….
acco-chan,
first of all, it was nice meeting you. it’s weird how we never met before and it’s weird how we were on the same flight to malaysia and didn’t even recognize each other. when i seen you waiting for your bodyboards at the baggage claim, i knew it was you. watching you girls bodyboard was a treat for me. you girls were charging HT’s and pushing each other deeper and deeper. it was really good for us surfers to see women bodyboards pushing the limits. and it’s girls like you that travel, explore, and take chances in life that will inspire the next generation of young bodyboarders. thank you for the wonderful trip and wonderful time. say hello to all my friends over there in niijima. it’s been like 8 years or more but i’ll be back there soon. i love that island… oh yeah, i bet nobody forgot the full moon that one night on the boat yeah? i laughed so hard that my stomach is still sore. haha. great memory!!!
take care and keep in touch.

Is Hawaii Safe???
good morning. 7 am on this sunny wednesday morning. small waves today around the island. seen some chest high sets in town. going for a surf!!! have a nice day!!!

think hawaii is safe? check out this story. this 44 year old man waited outside while a local mililani restaurant owner locked up her shop late at night. as she was locking the door, he punched her, put a towel in her mouth, and raped her for 2 hours. she finally escaped and called the police. they found him in her restaurant and when he was arrested, he said his name is bruce lee and roger moore 007. can you believe that? now let’s go to the court system in america. this guy will be prosecuted, his lawyers will claim that he’s crazy, he will get sent to a mental hospital, and let back out in our community in a few years.
i always tell my japanese female friends to be very careful in hawaii. it’s not as safe as japan so don’t be fooled. you won’t hear this kind of news because it’s not good for our economy. you heard it from me because i really worry sometimes when i see japanese girls in mini skirts walking around waikiki late at night. your just asking for trouble. be safe, watch around you, and don’t wonder around the streets late at night. and if somebody does grab you, kick his balls, scream, and run for your life. i’m not trying to scare you, i’m just warning you….
**now let’s move on to other depressing news. while i was diving the north shore pristine clear water yesterday, there was an overflow of 1,200 gallons (4,542 liters) of wastewater into the ala wai yacht harbor. the same ala wai yacht harbor that leads right out to ala moana bowls. so unless you feel like swimming in somebody’s shit, stay away from there. this isn’t the first time and last. wastewater spills are a monthly event here in hawaii. depressing….

kyle and i just came back from the mentawai’s diving and seeing so many fish. so jumping back into the ocean here in hawaii is pretty challenging. the fish actually go to school here. they are smart and know how to avoid your dinner table. well, not these unlucky fish. we dove all day long and did pretty good. we got a big 2 big kahala’s, 2 big uku’s, and some more assorted fish for the sashimi platter. thanks kyle for taking me out on your boat. my boat would have sank with the rough seas we had yesterday. thank goodness….

and last, want to thank everybody for the encouraging emails about my swimming competition debut. yeah, i was nervous. yeah, it was different. yeah, it was challenging. i didn’t realize how big the swimming competitions are here in hawaii. it was good to see everybody enjoying the ocean. i thought i was the only one. haha….
