Scouting in Shibuya…

when i first went to Shibuya, i couldn’t believe what i saw.  i saw guys at the train entrance chasing girl after girl.  they were trying to get them to work at a hostess bar something like that.  come to find out, that was called “scouting.”  ever since then, the word “scouting” stuck in my mind.

i don’t teach the boys how to scout for girls because they should already know how.  haha.  just joking.  but i teach the boys how to scout for fish.  i tell them “jump in, look around, observe, and when you see a lot of fish, tell me and i will put down the anchor.”  that’s my kind of scouting.  rain or shine, it’s the same process if you want to find fish…

so the boys say “uncle, right here has some good caves, it’s about 60-80′ and super clean.  i drop the anchor, jump in, and we take turns going down scouting for fish.

there was this big cave with a huge GT in there.  i went down, took a look, and the fish came right to me.  i pointed my shaft at his head, took the shot, then he shook in the cave and broke the line.  omg, i lost a big one!!!i went down again and again trying to find the fish.  the cave was deep and really dark.  so you have to dive down 60′ plus, then crawl in a tiny entrance into a huge 20′ long cave.  i tried and tried and couldn’t see my fish.  luckily, the sharks, eels, or crabs will get him.  i clearly remember where that cave was so i’m going back again…  anyway, good job boys on the scouting!

Walking on Water…

Good morning 5am.
North shore 2-4′ and good.
Ala Moana flat to knee high and perfect.
Diamond Head waist high and getting bumpy.
Trade winds at 15mph.
Sunny and warmer day.
Going to to sea.
Have a wonderful day!

Red Sunrise then Surf and Surf

i pulled up to Diamond Head in the dark and was getting ready to go down the hill.  then i looked at the sky and seen the coolest clouds forming where the sun was going to rise.  so i drove over to the main lookout, sat on the wall, and watched nature do its magic…

omg, i was mesmerized!  the redness was glaring off the ocean surface and it was the coolest feeling ever…

then i ran down the cliff, foiled for a while, and when i was done, i couldn’t believe how uncrowded Diamond Head was.  you could take off from the outside and ride the waves all the way to the inside.  absolutely perfect!

then went to pick up my little friend Leo.  we had the Ala Moana  ocean to ourselves!

yesterday was super bumpy and challenging.  today was perfectly offshore and easy.  Leo was pretty much surfing on his own.  we were so happy out there enjoying wave after wave…

it feels so good to longboard again.  i could ride the waves forever!!!
