Airborn Risks…

the very first time i flew on a helicopter, i honestly was very nervous.  they crash all the time here in Hawaii and that wasn’t a secret.  but it was a trip of a lifetime with very important people in my life.  so yeah, why not.  i remember planning the trip with the pilots and asking them for things that have never been asked before.  when i told them the course i wanted to take, i remember the owner saying “we’ve never done that before.”

the course consisted of flying from Honolulu Airport, around the East side of Oahu, then across the Kaiwi Channel, then around the whole island of Molokai, over the waterfalls, then getting dropped off on the middle of the street at vacation rental we booked on the West side.

i’ll never forget flying over the tallest waterfalls in the world.  it was amazing!

i think i was the most excited person of all.  we had 8 of us with 2 helicopters weaving in and out of each other.  it was like a video game…

so yes, we got dropped off on driveway of our vacation rental on the island of Molokai.  i don’t even think that’s legal???   then the big party that night, then we got picked up the next day on the same street and flew back to Oahu.  that was the first time i rode in a helicopter and that was the last too.  there were so many helicopter accidents recently and after i heard about the one on Kauai, i told myself “never again.”
