just pulled out my laptop for traveling purposes and found these photos on my desktop. not sure if i posted them all so will post again before i delete it. our private foil session in Bali this past april.
imagine being in the middle of the Indian Ocean with your brother in law Tony Moniz. then your nephew Seth Moniz surfing the prestigious WCT Kerama’s Pro just a few miles down the road. this day was in both Tony and my minds for over 10 years. so yeah, dreams come true…
when i first started foiling, i never thought i’d be doing what i’m doing on the foil now. it’s crazy to even think about this…
sometimes you control the foil, and sometimes the foil controls you. just like this. haha…
riding down a swell and just being super calm and relaxed is an amazing feeling. and only a foiler knows that feeling…
i still don’t know where the limit in foiling is. after i got back to Hawaii from Bali, all i wanted was to ride bigger and better waves.
after we came back from this trip, i was loving Bali again. it’s my number 2 destination for foiling, Hawaii being first. so since April, i’ve been telling all my foil friends how good Bali is. and also telling them that i’m going back very soon. i just didn’t know it would be this soon. haha.
with a couple swells heading to Bali, so am i. this trip, i want to catch the biggest wave of my foil life. and when i make the drop, i’m going to spread my wings like this and yell “FREEDOM!!!!” come fly with me…

want to thank Shin-san for the photos from our dream boat trip. this is the start!
if you ever rode Mayuki, you will know why i’m at peace. how could you not?
driving in the ocean is different than driving on the road. you have to watch for turtles, dolphins, whales, and divers. it could get dangerous if you’re not alert. so this is my alert face. haha…
and if you love something, take care of it. because when you take care of it, it will take care of you…
thank you Shin-san for the photos, and thank you for the treats!
ok, i can feel that Summer is finally coming to an end. the water dropped a degree, the weather is suddenly cooler, and the waves went to sleep. keep your eyes open and you will soon see whales jumping all around!
when you sit on the beach at Bowls, be careful because there are huge aggressive bumble bees! watch out Nori-san!
i was watching them and seen 3 of them fly back into the hole Nori-san was sitting on. haha..
i dare you to stick your finger in this hole.
and now we have wild ducks walking around in the Hilton Hawaiian Hotel lobby? haha…
i watched 2 people speaking Japanese and one speaking English conversing. they were using a voice translator and the translations were perfect! where can i get one of those from???
i was supposed to go to France to watch Seth surf the WCT but after checking flights and my schedule, i knew i wouldn’t have made it on time. so instead, i’ll be following him closely online. here is round 3 and now that he’s back in the real ocean, this kid is hard to beat. this is what you call “connecting with the ocean!” if there is a barrel, Seth will find it…
Seth broke his board in his heat but when you can be as calm as he is, it’s not a problem. good to see Coach Rainos on the beach fully prepared with Seth’s backup board. super professional…
i was watching so nervously. and when the heat finished with Seth on top, i was screaming! this is a huge heat win for Seth because Connor Coffin and Kelly Slater both lost. so that means Seth will move up for Olympic qualification…
i can’t tell you how proud i am of this kid. in Hawaii, he’s just a normal Hawaiian kid, but around the world, he’s a superstar! i was watching his post heat interview and then…
from behind, i see the Hawaiian clan rush the interview from behind and start screaming!
Kelia Moniz screaming her head off and Seth was freaking out. haha. he actually looked scared… good thing i wasn’t there because it would have been double loud. haha…
Seth loves his family, friends, and fans. and when everyone is cheering for him, he takes that power and wins heat after heat…
hey Seth, sorry Uncle couldn’t make it. but i will be watching every single heat you surf and will be screaming louder than Kelia. haha. i’m so proud of you and your smile. keep representing the family and Hawaii just like you have. positive and calm. see you in round 4. love you boy!
