People Watching and Boycott Instagram and Leave Me Alone!

i spent my last 2 days in Australia just hanging out and people watching.  after seeing surfers going into the bus with surfboards, i wasn’t too surprised to see surfers going into restaurants with surfboards.  these 2 surfers getting ready for lunch.  no way we can do that in Hawaii. look at this cool VW truck!  we don’t have these in Hawaii. everywhere i go, there are pictures of Kelia, Seth, or Joshua.  they’re all over the place!   i left the Moniz gang back in Coolangatta.  then the next morning, Kelia sent me a video of them getting ready for a surf saying “Unko Kirby, do you miss us?”  i text her back “Leave me alone!”  haha… then i get on the Hawaiian Airlines flight back home.  during the 10 hour flight, this flight attendant kept on looking at me.  it was kind of weird because i didn’t know who she was.  then we arrive in Hawaii and when i’m about to get off the airplane, she comes up to me and says “are you Kelia Moniz’s uncle?”  i say “yeah, why?”  she says “omg, you’re Instafamous!  i seen you all over Kelia’s Instagram!”   omg, i was shocked!  now i’m going to have a long talk with Kelia when she gets back to Hawaii.  i don’t want to be famous.  i just want my privacy!   first thing was to go home and grab my foil.  i was so excited to get back into the Hawaiian ocean!  then i was greeted by a Hawaiian Monk Seal suntanning on the beach.  she said “okairinasai.”   then i jumped into the wild and windy Diamond Head.  i fell on every wave but i had the time of my life!after a very long and successful trip, i’m very happy to be back home.  nowhere beats Hawaii!  tomorrow it’s back to work, and back to reality!

Gold Coast: Live like a Tourist

the talk of the talk in Australia is “did you carry the Koala Bear?  i’ve been hearing that for years and years.  so being the tourist i am, i had to experience it too.   how was it?  well, it was like carrying a stuffed animal teddy bear.   would i do it again?  never.

i can’t believe this trip is coming to an end.  i had a hard time saying my goodbyes because we had such precious moments together.  our presence was loud and clear.  Seth is on the WCT and he has support from so much family, friends, and the whole State of Hawaii.  the whole world is cheering for him.  the most lovable kid, the most respectful kid, the most thankful kid, and the most biggest heart kid.  he made us all proud and i’m sure he will keep that up.  so my little message to Seth, “hey boy, you are the man!  i was so proud of you this whole trip.  you made your rookie debut and showed the world what you and your family represent.  the way you won your heats were amazing, and the way you lost your quarter finals heat was amazing too.  you kept cool and kept calm.  i know you were heartbroken, so was i.   heartbroken because we both know that you could have went all the way.   just get back up, learn, and keep on killing all the giants.  i’m with you all the way.  love you boy…”

My Personal Best

last night i went to see the flock of birds again.  it’s the coolest thing ever! this morning i had another fattening and amazing breakfast.   for lunch, i had my favorite lasagna.  i must have gained 10lbs today.   why not go for everything?  haha.  this McDonald cone cost only 50 cents. it seems like we left Hawaii months ago.  it’s been 12 days for me which is a very long trip on my terms.  but one of the best trips of my life. after renting surfboards on our first day, surfing with 100 guys, then walking back to our hotel, it was then we passed by this foil shop.  probably the only full hard core foil shop in the world.   it was then i met my new best friend Matt that took care of us for the rest of the trip.  isn’t it crazy how things happen in this wonderful world?   it was on this trip i had my personal best foil session.  i caught a wave on way on the outside and rode 5 waves straight.   i felt like Kai Lenny, or even better.  haha… i can foil, take photos, look back, and enjoy life all at the same time.  this is a dream life baby… i was sitting behind Seth at the contest site as he was looking out into the gallery.  i was thinking “get ready to be on top of the world kid.  i knew this day was coming.  just keep calm and enjoy the ride…”i became really close to Rainos on the trip.  anybody that loves and respects my family is family to me.  it wasn’t only Seth’s WCT debut, it was Tony’s, Rainos’, and mine too.  we are all in this together!  so cool watching my beautiful Niece walking down the beach.  and all eyes were on this Roxy model and 2x World Champion.  so many people were watching Tony foil throughout the trip.  so little by little, people became curious.  i wasn’t surprised that Cheyne Horan pulled by the shop too.  Cheyne was one of the first guys to foil back in the 80’s.  he’s going to give it a try again and i’m sure he will love every minute of it. and everyday after too…
