Pipeline Masters BIG DAY!

opps, this was from December 17th and forgot to upload.  i was probably too happy about the Pipeline Masters!  haha…  anyway, here it is…

woke up early and glad we beat it out before the traffic and parking got crazy. Seth preparing for Round 2.

Seth was ready and prepared with his Wade Tokoro quiver. he rode a 6’6 today which was perfect.

i couldn’t believe how many people where watching the heat. and it was still in the morning!

in the 2nd round, Seth Moniz beat Owen Wright who is ranked #5 in the world! the whole Hawaii was happy!

Tony Moniz is a legend. sometimes more popular than his kids. haha.

front row at the Billabong House.

and free lunch at the Billabong house is always amazing. you wouldn’t believe how tender the prime rib was.

Seth getting ready for Round 3 against World ranked #1 Gabriel Mendina. Seth was going back and forth with the World Champion. it was probably the most exciting heat of the day! he came up a little short, but i’m sure the champ was nervous…

support is what you need to be successful. and when ever you get this kind of support, anything is attainable. good job Seth! the whole state of Hawaii is proud of you. and lots of other people around the world too. you make us very proud!

Nao-san learned a lot today. she learned how World Champions are made. and she learned how Pipeline should be surfed. next time i might have to take her out there. haha…

Kids and Dogs

still can’t believe this is winter!  South shore going off, super sunny, very warm, and such a good vibe.  it feels like Summer!!! when i was waiting for a wave, something nibbled my foot!  it was a stickfish again!  probably the exact same one.   why me? time to delete photos off my desktop.  here is Takahashi-san taking a nap and enjoying Molokai to the fullest.  slow life is good life… Nao-san just started surfing 3 years ago and look at the before and after results!   from a 11’0 longboard to a 6’4 shortboard.  amazing… Mai-chan hasn’t been surfing for too long either.  and now this girl is ripping on her own.  impressive… i hope i’ll never have to see this again at Bowls.  pretty sad… Junya is going to become a big Japanese music star one day.  but for now, it’s ok because i like my front row seats…   hope to sip on whisky and listen to your beautiful voice again soon!   little kids are like dogs because they will love you unconditionally.  no matter how i’m feeling at the end of the day, Mateus always lifts me up to a higher ground.   this kid is so special…
