super stoked pulling up to the beach early this morning and still seeing the full moon. the waves were glassy, the waves were overhead, and the waves were super consistent. another perfect surf day in hawaii! went surfing with my friend from japan and he surfed until he couldn’t paddle anymore. over 100 duck dives with rubbery arms. we surfed for almost 3 hours and we were hungry.

so this was our breakfast. a thick prime rib steak at 9:30am. i went home after and slept for 2 hours. haha.

with the light winds and solid everlasting south swells, this summer is by far the best summer i can remember. diamond head going off!

then i turn on the 6pm news and watch the sports headlines. OMG, headlines was about the Moniz Brothers. Josh Moniz winning the prestigious 2014 NSSA National Championships last year in california.

then brother Seth Moniz just winning the 2015 NSSA National Championships today in california. unbelievable!

they showed the highlights and Seth was ripping!

lightning fast surfing with big scores!

hey Seth, ever since you were 2 years old, i use to watch your older brothers picking on you. you were the smallest but a super fierce competitor. even though you were half the size of everybody else, you wouldn’t give up. i watched you grow up becoming very competitive, very smart, a very humble. i already predicted you will be a champion before you even started surfing so i’m not surprised at your big win today. i always believed in you and will still believe in you with everything you choose to do in life. take this win in your last amateur contest, and go out there and take down the big boys. i know you can, and i know you will. we are very proud of you and i’m sure all the hawaiians are too. thanks for bringing home the National Championship in your brothers footsteps. see you when you get back. another championship party i won’t miss.
Back to Back NSSA National Championships!
Go Surf or Get $20M USD

i tried my luck at fishing the other day and got very lucky! caught a nice ono or “sawara.” cut it up, put some in the refrigerator, and now it’s the perfect timing for sashimi! oishi!

then some carpaccio to change the vibe. good with white wine.

for those of you who don’t know who Marcus Mariota is. he’s was the best quarterback in college history and just got drafted into the NFL pro league. a local boy from hawaii. anyway, it’s contract time and the Titans offered him over $20 million! he refused to sign the contract. why? because the contract has a no-surfing clause. that means if he signs it, he can’t surf anymore because it’s too dangerous. so Marcus refused to sign it because if that. haha. i wouldn’t either. not even for a $100 million. once a surfer, always a surfer. your cool Marcus!
