Cookie Monster!

photo 2
i came home last night and Hiyori-chan was making cupcakes. she had a plate full of interesting cupcakes and asked me to guess what it was.

i looked at this one once and said, “cookie monster!” she said “yeah! cookie monster!” we laughed so much and after i looked at it again, i wondered what made me say cookie monster. it looks more like a happy face with a cookie stuck in the mouth. haha.

after playing volleyball, surfing for 2 hours, and fishing, we walked to ala moana shopping center and tried a new place. “Kai” miso ramen was pretty good!

then went surfing again this afternoon and i snorkeled at rock piles right before dark. i found a tako, shell, and fin. score!

then tonights sunset was just another great way to close out the amazing day. this is the beauty of hawaii!

then sipped on some whisky with friends, thought how great our life was, and came home to sleep. goodnight.
by the way, it was so cold today! sunny sky but cool north winds. my inner body was frozen until i took a hot shower a little while ago. get ready for another cold day tomorrow.

Secret GPS

photo 71
my nephews bought me a new GPS for christmas! super stoked! i’ve been using my old one for the past 10 years and has every secret dive spot you can ever imagine stored into it. it was time for an upgrade and now this garmin 78 will keep my secrets for the next 10 years. as for my old one, i’m going to burn it so nobody can find my ocean refrigerator. thanks boys!

the new motors for boats run on “ethanol free” gas. there is only 1 gas station in honolulu that sells this gas so it’s back and forth for me. kind of a hassle but once i start up the motor and head out to sea, it’s all worth it.

want to thank Inaida-san and Yuki-san for the wonderful mentaiko. i love it!
want to hear something funny?
when i first met Hiyori-chan in ishinomaki 2.5 years ago, she thought i was a black man. yeah, she really thought it was a kokugin. after i left that mission, she even asked her mom if i was black. haha. the funny thing is she isn’t the first one to think that. i’m pure japanese everybody, just a very dark one!
