when kyle told me that this trip is kind of like a fundraiser, i was super stoked that i could be a part of it. there is a 2 day tournament that starts tomorrow where divers from all over the world come to participate. it’s been going on for 7 years presented by Red Sea Ocean Adventures and Palapas Ventana. all the fish caught on this trip will be sold and the money will be donated to the kids that need it. this year, the mexican little league baseball team here in El Sergento needs equipment so it will go to them. what a great idea! i’m stoked to be able to have fun, spear fish, and help the kids all at the same time. everybody wins!

every morning, we walk down to the beach in front of our room, load the gear in out boat, and head to dive spots in the middle of the sea. i think i could live my life everyday like this. simple, and very healthy!

the sunrise is amazing here. golden sky! a great way to start a day!

the pelicans hang out on the beach waiting for the fish scraps. pretty cool creatures!
well, so far so good. just enjoying the wildlife. seen a manta ray jump out of the ocean, seen a shark looking like jaws, seen so many big fish, seen so many small fish, seen so many white beaches, and seen so many happy people. exploring deep in mexico and i love it. have a wonderful day!

Mexico Blue Water Dive Day 1 of 4

wow, finally got some good sleep last night. woke up early and got ready for a long day in the ocean. leave at 7am, come in at 4pm for the next 4 days. i think i’ll be pretty tired after this trip. here is our group getting anxious for our awesome day! isn’t this freakin beautiful?

every country uses different methods of doing things. in mexico, the use a bulldozer to get the boat in and out of the water.

as we left, i looked back and took this photo of the golden beach at sunrise.

last night when i got here, everybody was telling us, “there are no sharks in mexico!” then as we crossed the channel this morning, we see Jaws! check out how huge this fin is sticking out of the water! the shark turns and heads straight for our boat. i stick my camera underwater and miss the shot. amateur! but it was cool seeing a big aggressive shark greeting us bright and early.

not bad for a day huh? in mexico, you need a license to spear fish. and they set a limit of 5 fish per day. i think that’s a wonderful rule!

we get back with our catch, the mexican boys help offload, then filet the fish right there on the beach. then we will eat it tonight for dinner. fresh dinner, fresh life!

yahoo! oh, i mean “wahoo!” this wahoo or “ono” was my first fish speared on this first day. tomorrow is another day and another big fish hopefully. i better get going to dinner because the sashimi is waiting with my corona for sunset time. have a great evening!
