Viva Mexico!

baja_california_map
ok, after a lot of time on the computer, emails, phone, and instinct, i decided to go to mexico! La Paz to be exact. Kyle and the crew at Red Sea Ocean Adventures had this trip planned for a while. i had it marked down on my calendar for the past 6 months and if the timing worked out, i was going to jump on it. japan was my first choice as i’ve been surfing typhoons every year for the past 21 seasons. unfortunately, there are none as we speak so instead of waiting around for waves in the deadly heat, i decided to take the mexico trip. yeah, it’s super hot, but i’ll be on a boat and in the water all day long. i haven’t dove for a while, but i’m sure the first drop under some deep blue water will feel super refreshing. i’m looking forward to diving in such a beautiful country with big fish and sharks swimming around.

i’ll be staying in one of these huts right on the beach. dive all day, relax all night. just what i need!

i have to travel light so i’m just taking just the basic necessities.

i always set a goal on every trip. my goal on this one will to spear the biggest fish i’ve ever speared. am i prepared? no. i’m just going with the flow, relaxing my mind, and if that big fish crosses my path, i’m taking him out! i think i’ll be dreaming on the flight tonight as i try to sleep. i arrive in mexico tomorrow afternoon and the first thing i’m going to do is drink a corona, and eat a taco.
and the super cool thing about this trip is i’m going to japan straight from mexico! yeah, it’s time to visit friends in tohoku and see how things are going there. a short 3 day trip to sendai and ishinomaki should be fun. i really miss the people we’ve met on our We Are One missions and i’m looking forward to seeing them again. i think my life is moving too fast, but it’s just too hard for me to slow down. my goal each and every night before i sleep is “i had a very satisfying day!” and when i wake up the next morning “i’m very thankful that i’m going to experience another beautiful day!” life is just so amazing! enjoy it before it’s too late.

well, if you didn’t surf this morning, you missed out. after a dream session at bowls, my local friend at the shower told me “hey, this morning was amazing. perfect waves, perfect weather, and nobody out. it’s days like this i live for.” i told him “me too!”
i’m watching the waves now and it’s still pumping head high and perfect! tomorrow will be good for sure too and i’m surfing, then packing, then heading to the airport for a dream trip. visiting 2 countries in the next 10 days, then coming back and working really hard to keep up this dream life. cheers!
