2007 Billabong Off-The-Wall Masters…

good evening. i tripped out when i found out the contest was on because i knew the waves were flat. i drove out to the north shore anyway so i stopped by pipeline. the were running the contest at off-the-wall and the waves were small. head high sets and windy and junky. this got to be the worst pipe masters ever. i actually felt sorry for the competitors. but if you want to become a competitive surfer, you got to be able to surf any size and any condition. today was a perfect example…

this was the conditions today. like i said, small and windy…. andy irons, bruce irons, kelly slater, mick fanning, and other top 10 surfers lost early….

the man of the day was australia’s bede durbidge. bede was ripping every heat and surfed every wave perfectly. he is the 2007 off-the-wall master and he also won the triple crown title. congrats…

no, this was not today. this was last years pipe masters. the waves have been so junk that i forgot how pipeline looked so i went back and found this photo i took at last years contest. will it ever get this good in 2007? with only a couple of weeks left and no swells forecasted, it’s looking grim….

future pipeline competitors? i hope so….
**and just wanted to say thanks to keone watson and rainos hayes from billabong. i went to the billabong house for lunch today and found my friend craig sako in the kitchen making the best grinds. craig is the chef at the 5 star restaurant in the halekulani hotel named “orchids”. the food he made was awesome. poke, steak, garlic fish, fried rice, and some other killer dishes. i ate 2 huge plates that made me feel like kalua….[:??$B”y(B???:][:??$B”y(B???:] thanks craig…..

Win Free Breast Implants???

good morning. 6:45am on this cold, overcast, windy monday morning. small waves around the island. town is knee high with nice offshore conditions. nobody out bowls and only one guy at the park. the north shore is 1-2′ with lani’s and ehukai the best spots again. it’s windy now and going to get stronger. keep warm and have a nice day….

i bet you didn’t know i could sew? my grandma’s on both sides use to make all of our clothes for us when we were kids. they would spend hours and hours on the sewing machine and just by watching, i picked up a few sewing tricks. want me to make you a dress????

i think this photo is cool. saw it on msn.com and it caught my eye. i would love to see it with my own eyes….

the other day when i went to watch the pipe masters, somebody left these flyers on all the cars windows. WIN FREE BREAST IMPLANTS??? yeah, there was a party at the Skyline bar on the top of the Sheraton Hotel this past weekend. i thought to myself, “what is this world coming too?”…. go to a club and win fake boobs? so i went. haha. just joking….

Two Groms in Hawaii Interview….

good windy sunday evening. gosh, feels like hurricane winds everyday recently. i love it but kind of feel sorry for the tourists. hawaii is really a beautiful place. just not this past 20 days. the waves were small and out of the north so only spots like laniakea and ehukai beach park were breaking. no swells on the way and the strong winds will be with us for a few more days. heard from a lot of people that most of the pro surfers are out of here dec. 20th. that means more waves for us. i’m looking forward to that…. but for now, just got to be patient a little while more. oh, just wanted to say something. recently there have been some freaky car accidents here. people are dying and innocent people are getting hurt. please be careful while you drive and always be alert. the winds and rain isn’t making it any better. but be safe and enjoy the holiday season…. good night…
***sat down with the two groms and had them introduce themselves. they were kind of shy but i told them that if they keep up the way their surfing, more interviews will surely come their way. in other words, let’s practice. so here is their first interview from Hawaii and this is what they had to say….

Hello, My name is Shun Murakami. I am 10 years old and from Japan. The thing I like most about surfing is when I catch a wave and can hit the lip. It feels so good. This is my first time to Hawaii. I like Hawaii because there are waves everyday. I surfed V-Land, Haleiwa, Jacko’s, Laniakea, Ehukai, and Kewalo’s. My favorite spot is V-Land because I got a backside tube. My dream is to become a WCT pro surfer. I’m going to practice hard, surf everyday, and do my best. I’m in Hawaii for 10 more days so I want to catch a lot of waves. To my sponsors in Japan and to my family and friends in Yugawara, your going to be surprised on how good my surfing got from coming to Hawaii. Thank you. Bye bye.

Hello, My name is Ryota Matsushita. I am 11 years old and in the 5th grade. I’m from Yugawara City in Kanagawa Prefecture. I’ve been on a surf trip to Bali before but this is my first time to Hawaii. When I got here, I was so surprised on how beautiful Hawaii is. And the rainbows are so nice. The waves in Hawaii are much better than Japan. There is more power and you can get so much speed. Since I got here, my favorite spot is Laniakea because i caught a long wave from deep all the way through. It felt so good and it was so fun. My dream is to become a pro surfer and enter a lot of contests. And of course, WIN!! While I’m in Hawaii, I think my surfing is going to get a lot better before I go back to Japan. I have a question to my friends in Yugawara. “Hey, Is there any waves in Yoshihama now?” See you soon, Bye bye…
