i found this old photo of Mateus when he was a baby. a baby that always loved the smell of sweet flowers.
and now a big boy that still loves the smell of flowers. maybe that’s why he’s so sweet…
if you ever went to the University of Hawaii, you will see a huge mural on the wall near the bookstore. it’s been there even before i attended college there so that’s over 30 years ago.
if you read the recent article about Seth Moniz, he was talking about his roots in Molokai. this is Seth’s Great-Grandma working in the taro patches. Grandma Naki is from Molokai and was very respected. the Naki Family on Molokai are very kind, generous, and very Hawaiian. lot’s of aloha and lots of knowledge. gosh, i can’t wait to go back there!
Toda-san sent me a video of Azumi-san foiling in Ishinomaki. i was watching it and was so happy to see him flying like a bird. Azumi-san got so good!
when that good ride ended, i saw Azumi-san raise his hands in joy. and when a surfer raises his hands after a ride, that’s the ultimate feeling in the world. i had tears in my eyes because i know how happy he must be. it’s the best feeling in the world!!!
Molokai mo Bettah…
November 8, 2020 Hawaii Surf Report
Always keeping calm…
Good morning 6am.
North shore overhead and perfect. Laniakea going off!
Ala Moana waist to chest high and perfect.
Diamond Head shoulder high and little bumpy.
Trade winds back at 15mph.
Sunny and warm.
Going surfing.
Have a wonderful day!
Hilton Rainbow Day
trade winds came back this morning. light showers, cool breezes, and huge double rainbows. waves good on the North shore and South shore so nobody’s complaining…
Hawaii reopened to Japanese tourists but the Hilton Hawaiian Village didn’t open yet. once this big hotel opens, things will start to get back to normal. but until then, stay calm…
pulled out of the Bowls parking lot this morning and there were absolutely no cars or no people. i still get a creepy feeling seeing this…
Japanese are welcome to come to Hawaii, but Americans still can’t travel to Japan. i’m very sad because i love Japan, i love my friends, and i love my freedom. and when my freedom is taken away, i’m not the happiest person. so please keep me posted because once i’m allowed to go to Japan, i’m on the next flight there!
