Grandfathers Carpentry

i woke up at 2:30am this morning and paddled out in the dark.  i saw my 5 Black Belt friends already out there.  we exchanged waves and had the best Independence Day ever!  came home and Egan Inoue sent me this photo.  so happy to see myself enjoying the ride…

then when i looked closer, i didn’t realize how much fun i’m having.  i guess you can say i’m the happiest i’ve ever been.  just going with the flow and living each day to the fullest.  thanks Egan for making my day.  see you boys again tomorrow…

drove out to Hawaii Kai and seen party after party.  so many people enjoying the beach during this Independence Day.  please don’t forget we’re still in a Pandemic guys…

went to help my Mom install a closet door.  it’s actually the first time i’ve done this but i knew i could do it because my Grandpa taught me how to be a handyman.

i had to do some math, make some slight modifications, and make it work.

when i was done, i surprised myself!  it came out perfect.  now i’m going to install mirror doors on my own bedroom closet.  thank you Grandpa for teaching me your carpentry skills.  i’ve been using it a lot recently and someday, i will build my own house like you did for us…

Black Belt Ocean Party!

so i’ve been foiling every morning getting in the water before the sun rises.  there’s only a few guys out because it takes dedication and discipline to show up that early.  so there i was sitting in the middle of my friends talking story.  then i look around and i’m sitting in the middle of Jujitsu Black Belt masters.  add in a couple jujitsu world champions too.  it’s pretty cool to see these guys so humble.  the other day had 6, yesterday had 7.  Carter is one of the Black Belts foilers.  calm and cool…Dane is another Black Belt.  no fear in this guy…Shane is another Black Belt.  foiling everyday since he started…Kaiborg is another Black Belt.  he’s also Hawaiian Water Patrol who saves lives around the world.  you’re in good hands if he’s in the water because he’s watching everything that’s happening.  i’ve been trying for days to get a photo like this of him, without banging into him.  and yesterday when the sun came over Diamond Head, i said to him “now’s our chance!”  and i got it!

so as i was sitting in the middle of these Black Belts, i was thinking “i hope no ignorant surfer comes up to us and complains about us foiling out there.  that would be a nightmare.  haha…
