i still remember the day clearly in my economics class at the university of hawaii back in january 1990. at that time, i was studying about japanese companies like sony, nissan, and matsushita. i asked my professor what he thought about the japanese market and i remember him telling me that the Nikkei is going to crash. at that time, it was around 37,000 as it was my homework to check it everyday. yes, i wanted to be a stock broker. anyway, i didn’t believe him because i always thought that nobody could predict the stock market. but he did. by december 1990, it dropped to 23,000, losing over 35% in value in a year. the Nikkei eventually bottomed out at 8,160 on in november 2011. i wish i could have called back my professor back then and asked him what he thought. maybe i could have got some in site and struck it rich?

it’s april 2015 and the Nikkei went over 20,000 for a brief moment. that’s the first time in 15 years!
so i think back, could my college professor have predicted what had happened? was he on to something? was he playing the stock market? is he rich now? and what will happen now? go back up to 37,000? go back down to 8,000? very unpredictable markets that predict our world. love it!
