and another spread for an advertisement for DaKine. now the whole world knows this kid, Seth Moniz. i’m so proud of him!
all i need is my mask and a spear and i could survive forever. one of my dreams is to live a simple life off the land and ocean. as for now, i’m still learning.
40′ down outside a reef in waikiki. every single time i go there, i see a shark. this one was small, but there are big ones out there too. cool!
i’m still teaching the kids how to snorkel, enjoy the ocean, feel more confident, and not to panic. i’m sure they must be tripping out seeing me dive down and go into a cave. someday, i hope these girls will be doing the same thing.
my grand nephew Mateus is going to be 1 year old soon. he has the biggest cutest eyes! this was my first photo session with him and many more to come.
then my other grand newphew Noah came in to join the photo shoot. i love these photos and i love these kids.

Big and Small?
Good morning 5:20am.
Ala Moana chest high and morning sickness.
Waikiki waist high and cleaner.
Diamond Head shoulder high and very windy.
Strong trade winds at 15-25mph.
Sunny day with the HUGE full moon right now over Waikiki!
Pan-Pacific Matsuri Waikiki tonight from 5:30 to midnight. Kalakaua Avenue CLOSED! Surfing all day again.

today was another awesome surfing day in hawaii. the waves were perfect, the weather was perfect, and everything was perfect.
i was so stoked to see Tony, Micah, and Isaiah Moniz all in the water today. surfing with my family is cool. and to see them surfing so good makes me happy too. a boat trip to the mentawai is coming up in july and i wish i could join them. bummer.
today was day 2 with Banba-san. i was so stoked to see him catch so many good waves again today. check out this perfect barreling right! a very kind man from Minami Soma, Fukushima. i’m so happy to be surfing with him here in hawaii. tomorrow, we surf again! more waves, more smiles.
then i seen my hawaiian surfer friends Jason Magallanes and World Champion Sunny Garcia. super stoked to have our little conversation and got this photo with Banda-san. super cool guys that surf super real good!
then i see local bowls surfer Ronnie get a super nice right. gosh, the waves have been super good recently. every surfer on this island is very happy.
and yes, a nice healthy pho for lunch from Bac Nam.
then an afternoon surf session with Team Ina. Kumon-san works for HIS and is a very nice guy. a gentleman, very kind, and surfs really good. it’s been 2 years since surfing and i was impressed with his style and commitment. perfect surfing! see you in the water tomorrow.
