waking up every morning early and getting some good food in my stomach for the long day. starting off with fresh fruits.
today i had an American breakfast. felt so full after this. haha.
then went to foil. super stoked to be here foiling in the ocean with nobody around. met up with the Aussie boys for some outer reef tow ins. foiled 3 days straight and my body is sore. but in Bali, there is an easy fix for that; massage, massage, and massage.
Bali has sure changed. now there’s a cafe everywhere you look. and you won’t get sick just from the ice anymore. and also so happy to see everywhere going eco friendly. i don’t see plastics anymore!
avocado toast for lunch. omg, this was amazing!
then walking around and seeing my beautiful niece Kelia Moniz everywhere.
it’s so crazy when i see these huge posters of her, it feels like she’s right here watching me. scary… haha…
anyway, the surf is good, the water is warm, no jellyfish, and life is good. have a wonderful day!

i’ve been to Bali about 30 times since 1993 and every single time i come here, this restaurant is a mandatory stop.
then i always go in the back to watch them preparing the pig. it’s Babi in Indonesia. when you walk back here, don’t expect to see the cleanest kitchen in the world. haha.
because right in the kitchen, is the meal. it’s a cruel world out there but my recommendation is the baby pig. that one will be the most tender and tastiest. 30 years ago, a pig would cost us $30. now, it’s more like $300. it’s called inflation.
this is where the killing and the cooking is done. i never use to appreciate food until i saw the process from beginning to end. it’s very sad, but this is life…
cook some rice and get ready for an amazing meal.
for $3.50, you can’t get a better Babi Guling “suckling pig” meal than this in the world. and i might have to go back there tomorrow…
i learned so much about fish since i was 16 years old. throughout the years, i’ve tried and eaten almost every kind of fish you can imagine. so puling up to a restaurant, i can look at fish, how it tastes, and also the value…
back in the days, the Uhu on the right was my number 1 prized fish. and the palani on the left was last. but since my last trip to Bali in April, that totally changed. it’s the opposite now. the cheap stinky black fish that nobody eats in Hawaii is 10x more tastier than the prized expensive uhu.
so now when i hunt, i hunt differently. if i want to eat grilled fish, i will hunt these little black palani’s. much easier to catch, and much easier to prepare. it’s funny how traveling can teach an old man new things…
and some fresh clams is a great balance for the fish. so good…
